Friends

This was a page I designed for a class recently. I wanted to use "Kraft" colours & just one other colour. Guess what, the other colour just so happens to be  my  favourite colour which is  green!!! I truely love this colour combo. I had this awesome photo to start with so it made the job so much easier.  I have used a Words or Whatever "Friends"  chipboard wordlet, which I painted & then Glimmermisted in Lime. When dry I just added an outline of white gel pen dots. I have also stamped "B.F.F." using a great "Autum Leaves"  stamp & a friends definition using a Stampin Up stamp from a fab set I have that is all definitions. It is really a great stamp set. I use them often. I love to incorporate stamping on my Scrapbook pages. I know a lot of people think stamps are just for cards but I disagree. They are a great way to make your pages really unique & more personal. Also on this page I have used a fab little metal clockface from the master of all things  metal, "Tim Holtz". I had been dying to use these.I have also Glimmermisted the flowers. I have used Kaisercraft wood leaves which I have left raw to add to this natural theme.. Lastly I have used my faithful Cuttlebug machine to emboss a panel of green cardstock to add a little texture.

There is also another version of this page I might post later in the week. At my shop we usually do two versions of every page. Usually a Girl & Boy version so as to accomodate everyone. Pin It Now!

Crazy Kid

This was another one of the many Boy pages I designed for a class at my shop. I truely feel that boy pages are my forte. I suppose when you are the mother of all sons it goes with the territory. I have used the "Words or Whatever" Nested Cogs, Crazy Kid Wordlet, Small Cogs & Chipboard Buttons.

I painted the cogs with a metallic paint then wiped black ink over them to grunge them up. I painted & doodled on the Wordlet . I covered the chipboard buttons with denim from an old pair of one of my son jeans. I think it looks quite effective. I have also used black Coredinations cardstock which I have embossed with a Cog embossing folder on  my Cuttlebug machine, then used sandpaper to give it the effect you see here. I have also thrown paint all over my background paper, used staples, stamped & all in all I am happy with the grungy effect I have achieved. Hope you like it.
All the items I have used on this & all my other pages are available for sale at my shop. Pin It Now!

How cute is this photo?  This was a page I designed for a class we held at my shop ages ago, but I still love the many cute "little boy" elements. Susanne at Words or Whatever made up all the chip bits as per my specifications. She is so good at that. I wanted to do a dinosaur theme so I asked her to make these little chipboard dinosaurs, palm tree, bones & tiny "play" word. I have painted all these pieces to match this dinosaur paper. I really like these Cork letters I used which are from Bella. I have used black ink on everything including the cork letters. I have also used a piece of corrugated card which I salvaged from a cardboard box & then thrown some paint & ink on it. Lastly I used some mesh & string just to finish it off. Hope this gives you some ideas.for little boy pages. I really feel that boy pages are my niche. Pin It Now!

Welcome to my brand NEW Blog......

Welcome to my brand NEW blog. I still have a few small changes I want to make, but overall I think it's OK. I hope so anyway!!! My name is Di Garling & I live on the Central Coast of NSW. I am an obsessed scrapbooker & cardmaker. I also own a scrapbook shop at The Entrance NSW & I am half of our two person Design Team. All of this keeps me very very busy, which is why up until now I have not bothered to have a blog. I have a website www.disscrapbooks.com.au & a facebook page "Di's Scrapbooks" both of which I constantly  update so now I have one more thing to add to that list!!!  My website has a fair size gallery if you would like to check it out. Maybe grab a few ideas. All the pages in the website were designed by Jan Rankine and myself. All the cards in the website were all designed by me. Anyway I hope you find a little inspiration in my blog.

Beach Themed Cards for my February Card Classes

Thought I might share these five cards I made for our February Card Classes at my shop. I have followed a  "beach"  theme as my shop is at  "The Entrance"  which is a seaside tourist holiday area on the sunny Central Coast of NSW & what better way to depict summer than to have a beach theme!

I have used "WOW" chipboard mini thongs that I have painted & they made up in this tiny size upon my request. Thanks again Suzanne, I know I am always asking for something different but you always come through for me! Also I used some "WOW" beach packs featuring little chipboard deck chairs & umbrellas which I have just given a slight inking to.

To keep with the beach theme I have used a "Darkroom Door" set of stamps which feature all the little words, quotes  starfish & lighthouse. Fabulous set of stamps.

Lastly I have used raffia, shells  & loads of texturising with my good old Cuttlebug. I hope you like them.           Di xx Pin It Now!

Grins & Giggles

This is another page I designed for a class at my shop. I have used a Queen & Co. felt border & a "Dusty Attic" chipboard Lampost. I have heat embossed these little white flourishes around two sides to add a little definition. I have also used "WOW" chipboard date tag & wordlet "Grins & Giggles", which they custom made for me upon my request. It is really great the way they offer this service for their customers,  as we all know that sometimes we just need something different than what is available already. Thanks "WOW". Pin It Now!

This Little Girl Grew Up To Become My Mother

This page was another page I designed for a class we did at my Shop. It is the girl version to the boy one underneath this. I think this is a great old sepia photo of my Mum as a baby. I used two pieces of the Teddy Bear paper. One for the background & the 2nd one I cut out the bears & foam dotted them over the first ones to get a little dimension.  As usual I had Words or Whatever (WOW) customise the words to my specs. Suzanne is an absolute wizz at this. She also made up this cute little Teddy Bear just the size I wanted. Thanks WOW!!! I have hand painted the Bear, thank heavens for all those art classes years ago. Also if you look really close at the pink words you might be able to see the glass crackle effect I have used over the top of the pink paint. It is a great product called "Viva Croco Crackling Colour" I have used the transparent one over the pink paint but I believe it also comes in colours. I don't know if you can see it properly, I hope so.It creates a real glass effect but all crackled. Hope you like it. Pin It Now!

This Little Boy Grew Up To Become My Husband

I do love this page because it is such a great photo of my husband as a baby. He really was such a cute looking little boy. I can really see how much both my sons looked like him at this age. Words or Whatever made this title up for me at my request (they are so good at customising things). Also I used a WOW chipboard Sail Boat which I painted & inked.  Hope you like this page.

Shadow Box

I made this  chipboard  Shadow Box  for a workshop we held at my shop the other week. It was a whole lot of fun & all the girls really enjoyed it. Of course we used lots of Prima flowers & lots of sparkle. The really big pink flower in the centre of the cluster is actually made out of cardstock using a "Spellbinder" Die. I have also used a really nice WOW flourish that I cut up as well as some WOW butterflies & torso. Pin It Now!

Little Man

This was a page I designed for a class at my shop. I have used lots of 'WOW' chipboard including the Title, Signpost & Stars. I always love primary colors in little boy pages. As always I love the layers on this page as well as showcasing this great little EK punch. This particular punch  is a really  good one for boy stuff.  I have used loads of brads around two sides. I have also covered the stars & then heat embossed them.  For the chipboard title I firstly painted it & then I heat embossed it with a great "Hero Arts" stamp that has lots of star words etc. on it.
